Leila Smith Pittard

Leila Smith Pittard, 93, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026 in ECU North Hospital. Ms. Pittard was born in Halifax County, the daughter of the late Ila Blanche Keeter and John Lawrence Smith and was the widow of the late David Fishel Pittard. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Wade Smith, Gene Smith, and Lawrence Smith.

Surviving include her son Keith Pittard and his girlfriend Nichole Shelton, her brother Al Smith and his wife Dot, her granddaughter Brittany Grove and her husband Ben, her sisters-in-law: Arlene Smith and Ann Smith and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastors Nancy Palmer and Stan Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends form 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
