Lee Richard Jones

Lee Richard Jones, 67, died Tuesday morning, September 15, 2020 in his Halifax home.

Lee was born June 14, 1953 in Essex, NJ, the son of Charles Russell Jones and Lily Metro Jones.   His parents; and a brother, Gary Jones, preceded him in death.

Lee was a US Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam war.  He was a retired agriculture engine mechanic; and also drove a truck for a number of years for Guy Shavender Trucking.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Beth” Fowler Jones; children, Jamie Jones, Jason Jones and Jennifer Newbern; step-children, Leslee Aycock and Missy Saunders; brothers, Kevin Jones and Charlie Jones; sister, Beverly Stephenson; and 10 grandchildren.

The service to celebrate the life of Lee Richard Jones will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 19, 2020 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, with military honors by the US Navy.  Pastor Hayes Grant will preside.

Memorial contributions may be given to either Community Home Care and Hospice, 525 Becker Dr., Suite A, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870; or to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr, Greenville, NC 27834.
