Kenneth Earl Powers Sr

He was born August 2, 1945 in Halifax County to the late James Nathaniel Powers and Cora Ann Birdsong Powers. He retired from J.P. Stevens Textile Mills after 33 years of service. Mr. Powers loved singing, playing and listening to good old country music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Garland Shorty Powers and two sisters, Frances Wells and Helen Butler.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Nancy Oliver Powers of the home; two sons, Earl Powers and wife Sharon, Timmy Powers and wife Sarah all of Roanoke Rapids; two daughters, Tammy Powers Carroll and husband Ken of Littleton and Cindy DeBerry and husband Dean of Roanoke Rapids and one sister, Judy Pittman of Halifax. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Randy Davis, Brittany Matthews, Nicole DeBerry, Eric DeBerry, Kelly Powers and Kendall Powers all of Roanoke Rapids and one great grandchild, Norma Jean Lassiter.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 7-9 PM at the funeral home where funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Bobby Turner Monday, November 15th at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.
