Joseph Bennett Glasgow

Joseph Bennett Glasgow, 74, departed this earthly life on February 22, 2012 at the Cardiac ICU in Chapel Hill.

Born in Weldon on June 15, 1937 to Santa Jackson and Catherine Warren Glasgow he was a 1955 graduate of Weldon High School and served 4 years in the US Army. He worked as an electrician at VEPCO for 23 years, and worked for many companies in many communities as an electrician for the past 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Carol Conwell Glasgow and his second wife Bessie Mae Glasgow.

He is survived by his wife Debra Peebles-Glasgow of Roanoke Rapids, his brother Jackson Thomas (JT) Glasgow of Durham and his sister Faye Glasgow Craft (James) of Brevard, his sons Kenneth Glasgow of Warner-Robins, GA, Mike Glasgow (Debbie) of Kill Devil Hills, Tim Glasgow (Mae) of Gaston, Douglas Glasgow (Tanya) of Roanoke Rapids, Doris Manuel-Southern of Williamsburg, Beth Davis of Williamsburg, Jackie Mealy of Wilmington and Diana Peebles, Donte Peebles and Darian Peebles all of Roanoke Rapids as well as his mother-in-law Reathella P. Love, his brother-in-law Larry Hawkins and his sister-in-law Tabby Spruill. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nik Glasgow and Shinah Glasgow Coakley, Heather Matthews Watkins and Amy Glasgow Russell, Douglas Glasgow Jr and Michael Glasgow, Julie Manuel, Rebecca Manuel and Jimmy Manuel, Amanda Canda, Kelly Canda and Billy Canda and his great-grandchildren Caitlyn Russell, Landon Coakley and Adyson Coakley, Price Joseph Mealy and Kennedy Mitchell, Quaziontay Peebles, Imari Garrett, Jaymarquan Jones, Eniya Squire, Donte Peebles Jr, Naomi Arrington, Unique Faulcon, Dariana Peebles and Milleyana Peebles and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday morning, February 26 at 11 am at Hockaday Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 7:00-8:30 pm at Hockaday Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery..
