John Walfrid Osberg, Iii

John Walfrid Osberg III, 88 of Littleton, NC passed away peacefully at ECU-North Hospital on Thursday November 21, 2024.  He was born on May 14, 1936, in Canton, Pennsylvania.  He was preceded in death by his parents Reverand John and Clara Osberg.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Wanda Hoyt Osberg, his son John W. Osberg (Donna) of Virginia Beach, Va., his daughter Janis Schlager (John) of Beavercreek, Ohio, his grandchildren Janine Schlager, Rachel Schlager, Jonathan Osberg, Stephen Schlager (Leah) and Jerry Osberg, great grandchild Liam Schlager and “fur-baby” Daisy.

John honorably served his country in the United States Navy (1955 to 1985), he piloted helicopters and retired as a Captain. He worked for the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation after his retirement from the Navy.  His hobbies were reading, woodworking, playing the organ, collecting guns and reloading.

A private memorial service will be held by the family later.
