John Cutchin Brown

January 3, 1949 — March 21, 2021

Mr. John Cutchin Brown, 72, died Sunday evening, March 21, 2021 in Vidant North Hospital.

A son of Robert Lee Brown, Sr., and Thelma Acrey Brown, he was born January 3, 1949 in Halifax County.  His parents; and brothers, Oliver Brown, Larry Wayne Brown and Howard Brown Sr. preceded him in death.

John retired from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, where he worked as a Boating Technician II.  He was a 1968 graduate of Weldon High School.  He was also a US Army veteran, and was stationed in Germany toward the end of the Viet Nam war.

John enjoyed “riding around” town; a cup of coffee at Oscar’s, and Irma’s cooking.  He and Irma liked going to flea markets and yard sales.  He was an outdoorsman, liked watching NASCAR racing and was a big Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan.

He is survived by his faithful and loving companion, Irma Hale; siblings, Thelma Brown Bowen, Robert Lee Brown, Jr., Douglas MacArthur Brown (Peggy), Barbara Brown Wall, Marshall Kaye Brown (Becky) and David Keith Brown (Lisa); sisters-in-law, Laura Hux Brown and JoAnne Brown; several cousins; a number of nieces and nephews including special nephew Daniel Brown; great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Brown will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 26, 2021 from the graveside, at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.  Pastor Randy Martin will preside.  Friends may visit with the family following the service.  Those in attendance are asked to observe mask and social distancing recommendations.
