Jesse Lee Medlin

Jesse Lee Medlin, 67, died Sunday November 30, 2014 at his home.

Jesse was born October 20, 1947 in Halifax County to the late Lester L. and Jessie Mae Taylor Medlin. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Jesse never met a stranger and once he knew you, you had a friend for life. He worked at Newsom Oil Company as a truck driver for 24 years and worked for Champion, International Paper, and Kapstone for 15 years. Jesse joined the Davie Volunteer Fire Department March 31, 1979. He served 35 years and held the ranks of Captain, Traffic Captain, and Lieutenant. He also served on the Board of Directors and was an EMT. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth Irene Epperly; his twin brother Les Medlin; and Danny Medlin. Jesse is survived by his wife Michelle Ogburn Medlin; his sons Scott Golden and wife Shannon; Jesse Lee Medlin, Jr. and wife Tracy all of Roanoke Rapids; and Timmy Ott and wife Jennifer of Garysburg; his stepson Joshua Green; his grandchildren Hannah and Braxton Golden; Cameron and Cassidy Medlin; and Brooke and Bryce Ott. He is also survived by his brothers Al Medlin of Yanceyville, NC and Nathan Shorty Medlin and wife Betty of Macon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dennis Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home and all other times at the home.
