Jesse Claude Banty, Jr.

Jesse Claude Banty, Jr., 74, died April 12, 2020 at Vidant North Hospital.

Mr. Banty was born November 5, 1945 in Halifax County, the son of Jesse C. Banty, Sr. and Lottie Gertrude Johnson Banty.

He attended Weldon High School, and retired from Coastal Lumber Company after 48 years of service.  Mr. Banty enjoyed NASCAR, dirt track racing and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Jones Banty; brothers, Rudolph, Thomas and Freeman Banty; and sisters, Louise Poythress, Elizabeth Poythress and Mabel Godsey.

Survivors include his sons, Timothy W. Banty, Brandon Banty (Bethany); grandchildren, Timothy A. Banty (Angel), Sierra Gibbs, Jentry Banty; and great-grandchild, Madison Gibbs.

Mr. Banty will be cremated and a service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
