Jerry David Thomas, 80, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Mr. Thomas was born in Halifax County on July 6, 1946, the son of the late Mattie Lucille Johnson and Elwood Jasper Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald E. Thomas, and his sister, Joyce Mooney Hobbs.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army, a service that was an important part of his life.

He will be remembered and missed by his loving family and those who had the privilege of knowing him. Those left to cherish his memory include his niece, Wendy M. Joyner of Danville, Virginia; his nephews, Wayne Mooney (Lynn) of Ocean Isle and Marc Mooney of Roanoke Rapids; along with other family and friends.

While there will be no service held at this time, Jerry's memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
