Jeanette Thorne

Jeannette Thorne, 71, of 412 Elm Street, Weldon, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Thorne was a beautician for 25 years at Hazels and was also a seamstress supervisor for 25 years at New Carolina Industry. She was a caretaker and nurturer and loved all animals. She and her husband, David, owned and operated a Budget Shop in Weldon. She never met a stranger and opened her heart up to everyone.

Mrs. Thorne was born January 23, 1939, to the late John D. Taylor and Effie Beatrice Davis Taylor. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Willis.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, David Thorne, of Weldon; a daughter: Angela Willis Monroe and husband, Charles, of Charlotte; her brother: John D. Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Mot, of Bethel; her sisters: Corinne Holmes and Arnold Powell of Conway, and Barbara Jean Lassiter and her husband, Ed ,of Millenium; her grandchildren: Caroline Monroe of Charlotte and Krista Hatchell of Monroe, N. C.; her great-grandchild: Riley Astheimer; and her two Labs: Schwartz and Sassy.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 25, 2010, from 7:30 to 9:00 P. M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangement, and other times at 412 Elm Street, Weldon, N. C.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 26, 2010, at 3:00 P. M. at the Davis Family Cemetery at Faisons Old Tavern.
