Jean Braswell Edwards

Jean Carolyn Braswell Edwards, 82, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Wake Medical center.

Jean was born March 9, 1936 in Northampton County to the late Robert Gurney Braswell and Hattie Mae Duke Braswell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Edwards, Sr.; her brothers, James Braswell and Abner Braswell; her sisters, Louise Slade and Marjorie Ricks.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her grandchildren and spending time with her family and visiting with her brothers and sisters. Jean loved babysitting many children over the years. She loved her vegetable garden, being outdoors and sewing.

Jean is survived by her children, Glenn Edwards, Jr. and his wife Kim and Lisa Hux and her husband Tim both of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren, Brad Crawley, Terry Lee Stauffer, Ashleigh Edwards and Jacob Stauffer, Ashlee Hux and Taylor Joyner; her brother, Gurney Braswell and his wife Becky of Lasker; her sisters, Mertis Edwards of Jackson and Essie Mae Woodard and her husband Shirley of Conway and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Daniel West officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, Glenn Edwards, Jr.
