Jean Eleanor Hastings Bessent, 94, of Roanoke Raipds died October 9, 2018 at her residence.
Jean was born in Washington, DC on September 19, 1924, the daughter of William Leonard and Mamie Florence Ritenour Hastings. She was a retired pharmacy tech. Jean moved to the area in 1980; she was a member of Freshfire Assembly of God.
Survivors include her daughters, Jane Sampson of Roanoke Rapids, Jean Cardova of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Joan Horr of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, James Marion Cardova (Jacquelyn), Joy Virginia Cardova (Jason), Jeffrey Gale Lovin, Joseph Alan Lovin, Keith William Ogden (Shannon), Kristopher James Ogden (Kimberly), Jessica Nicole Lyles, and John Cardova (Gina), Carol Padgett (Michael) Jennifer Horr, Joshua Horr; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bessent will be cremated, and plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
