James "Jay" Edward Wright II, a devoted son, loving father, and loyal friend, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2025 at the age of 63.
A welder by trade, Jay took great pride in his work, demonstrating skill, dedication, and craftsmanship throughout his career. He was a hardworking man who believed in doing things the right way and always giving his best effort. Jay was a man of deep compassion, dedicating many of his later years to the care of his mother with unwavering love and devotion.
Jay found peace in the outdoors, whether hunting, enjoying nature, or simply appreciating the beauty around him. He had a love for reading, especially the Bible, and his faith provided him with strength and guidance. His laughter was contagious, and he found true happiness in the company of others, sharing stories, jokes, and the simple joys of life.
Jay is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Wright; his mother, Faye Blowe Wright; and his nephew, James Garrett Price. He is survived by his daughter, Morgan Wright; his sister, Lisa Johnson (Johnny Johnson); his nieces, Destiny Pratt and Joanna Johnson; and great nieces, Gabby Smith and Swayze Williams. Jay’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A graveside service to celebrate Jay’s life will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Cedarwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad in his memory. Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.
