James Arthur Register, Jr.

James “Jim” Arthur Register, Jr. 89, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at The Landings in Littleton, NC.

Jim was born June 18, 1934, in Portsmouth, VA.  He was the son of the late James Arthur Register, Sr., and Katie Mae Whitson Register.  He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert Register, his sister Betty Waterfield, brothers-in-law Oscar Sherman and Tony Bisselle.

Jim is survived by his wife Joan K. Register, his son James A. Register, III (Maria) of Hickory, NC; his daughter Christine Watson (Mike) of Rocky Mount, NC; his sisters Shirley Bisselle, Beth Elflett, and Ethel Potter; his grandchildren Jennifer Sanderson (Trey), Kelly Johnson, Leslie Johnson, Jimmy Register, and Rachel Register; his great grandchildren Ava Sanderson and Isaiah Sanderson; his sister-in-law Beatrice Lawson (Lewis); and his brothers-in-law Floyd Waterfield and Michael Williams.

The family expresses special thanks and appreciation to the staff of Gentiva Hospice and to the staff of The Landings in Littleton, NC.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
