James Roland Matthews, Jr., 46, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC.

James was the son of James Roland Matthews, Sr. and Marilyn Riggan; born in Emporia, VA, September 7, 1970.

Surviving are his wife, Sabrina N. Matthews of the home; father, James Sr. and wife, Anne, of Roanoke Rapids; mother, Mary Riggan also of Roanoke Rapids; stepson, Ian Bundy of Durham; daughter Amber Matthews of Roanoke Rapids; step-sisters, Sue Bullock, Lori Robinson, Margie Esidro and Claudia Clayton. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kayleigh and Aiden.

Rev. James Rawls will conduct a Service of Remembrance in the chapel at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon.
