James Tootie Wesley Kidd, 65, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center.

Tootie was born in Halifax County, September 30, 1951, to the late James Edward Kidd and Edna Marion Bennett Kidd. When Tootie was younger, he worked as a car hop at the Rainbow Grill in Gaston. He also loved fishing and playing bingo. In addition to his parents, Tootie was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne and Willis Kidd and his sisters, Margaret Marin and Evelyn Letchworth.

Surviving are his son, Andrew Scott Kidd of Greenville; daughter, Melinda Sue Powers and fianc, Brian Best, of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Wallace Monroe Kidd of Garysburg; sisters, Kathy Kidd Stanbury of Roanoke Rapids and Linda Kidd of Garysburg. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kaydence Best and Brianna Best.

The family will have a gathering friends to remember Tooties life at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 6-8 pm.
