James McArthur Alston, 82, passed away on June 24, 2026. Mr. Alston was born on September 15, 1943 in Littleton, the son of the late Mariam Best and Debernia Hooper Alston. He is also preceded in death by his granddaughter Karen Alston, his first wife Doris Wilson Alston, and his brother William “Boo” Alston and his sister Gene Witt.

Mr. Alston worked in the textile industry for over 42 years. He loved to farm, go camping, and was an avid fisherman.

Surviving include his wife Janet Lee Alston, his children: Dean Alston, Tony Alston, and Andy Alston and his wife Amy, his grandchildren: Ashley Alston, Emily Gaylor (Brandon), Caleb Alston (Taylor), Grace Alston, Levi Alston, and Joshua Wallace, his great grandchildren: CJ Shiflett, Rebecca Shiflett, Austin Shiflett, Hannah Alston, Madison Gaylor, Olivia Gaylor, Kaylee Gaylor, Zander Alston, Clay Alston, Kimber Alston, and Trenton Johnston, his many dachshunds and his nieces and nephews.

A Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Fresh Fire Assembly of God. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
