James Robert Monroe Joyner, 70 of Zoo Road South, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Joyner was born January 21, 1942 in Nash County to the late Robert Joyner and Nellie Weaver Joyner. Mr. Joyner owned and operated Joyner Electric for 43 years, when he was able he was active in the Masonic Lodge and Shriners.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Joyce Willis Joyner of the home; his son: Monray Joyner and his wife Heather of Roanoke Rapids; his sister: Marjorie Gardiner and her husband Bunny of Littleton; his granddaughter: Allison Joyner.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, conducted by Rev. Henry Stephens.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 7, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.

Memorial donations may be made to the New Testament Christian Church Youth Program 615 Jackson St. Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
