Jackie H Wilder

Jackie Herbert Wilder, 75 of Highway 48, Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Mr. Wilder was born November 24, 1938 to the late Otis and Henrietta Green Wilder. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 31 years Rachel Butts Wilder; his sister: Foye Wilder Parrish; and his brother: Tommy Wilder.

Mr. Wilder was a member of Bear Swamp Baptist Church. He was a retired soil testing engineer for Froehling and Robertson, Inc. He was best remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved people and had a soft spot in his heart for animals.

Mr. Wilder was survived by a sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews and 2 faithful companions, his dog Ginger and his cat Hugo.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Bear Swamp Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Guidry and Rev.Charles Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 8:30 P.M. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at 549 Old Halifax Road.
