Jack K Underdown

Jack Kenneth Underdown, Sr., 81, died at his residence on Zoo Road, June 2, 2012.

Jack was born November 18, 1930 in Blowing Rock, NC to the late James Underdown and Doris Bullock Underdown. After serving in the Navy, Jack later joined the United States Air Force where he retired after twenty-one years of service. He worked with the post office here in Roanoke Rapids for seventeen years and was a member of Little Country Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Underdown, and his brother, Jimmy Underdown.

Surviving is his wife, Mary M. Underdown, of the home, and his son, Robert Michael Underdown of Littleton. Also surviving is his granddaughter, Tonya Hasty and husband, Chuck and great grandchildren, Macie and Karson Hasty, all of Roanoke Rapids.

A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor James Jenkins in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, who is handling arrangements, Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
