Irma Barham Pepper, 85 of 715 Davie School Road passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Irma was born December 5, 1930 in Southampton County, VA to the late Paul Barham and Margaret Annie Beale Barham.She was also preceded in death by her son: Tony Harris; her brothers: Robert Barham and Buddy Barham; her sisters: Eunice Copeland and Gladys Riddick.

Irma loved her family and they always came first. When she came to Roanoke Rapids in 1950 she worked for Charlie Thanos at Rosemary Restaurant, the Colonial Store, retired from J.P. Stevens and later was the restaurant manager at Lakewood Truckstop.She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she served as President and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She also served on the official board, as a lay leader of the church for a number of years, choir member and Sunday school teacher. Irma was also a member of the N.C. Studebaker Club.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years Francis Pepper; her sons: Gary Harris and his wife Barbara, Timmy Harris and his wife Linda; her daughters: Paige Gay and Mary Trudy Jones all of Roanoke Rapids; her brother: Noah Barham of Tidewater, VA; her sister: Frances Sellers of Windsor, VA; her grandsons: Paul Harris, Kyle Harris, Garrett Harris, Jr. and Owen Harris; her granddaughters: Macy Burnette, Tina Gay, Amanda Clark, Ginger Duncan and Toni Spillane; 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Sue Owens and Rev. C.J. Griffin officiating.Burial will follow New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 7:00 8:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
