Ida Keeter Jones

Ida Keeter Jones, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Carolina St. Friday, February 17, 2012.

Ida was born in Halifax County May 28, 1925 to the late Claude Keeter and Fannie Brock Keeter. She attended East Tenth Street Church of Christ when her health permitted and was a homemaker and matriarch of the family. She loved her family and held them together through her love and caring nature. She loved gardening and her flowers, especially azaleas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Benjamin Jones; a niece, Cathy Shearin Holloman; a sister, Margie Shearin, and brother, Douglas Keeter, Sr.

Surviving is her daughter, Rita Garrett; two granddaughters, Pam Cain and husband Chris, and Jennifer Todd and husband, Todd, all of Roanoke Rapids; two great granddaughters, Amanda Cain and Cara Todd, and one great grandson who is on the way. Also surviving are a niece, Carolyn Garrett and husband, Marvin, and family, of Virginia Beach, VA, and other nieces & nephews in the Roanoke Rapids, Greenville, and New York area; special friends and caregivers, Anna Phil and Pearl Carter.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Services, who is handling arrangements, Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 7-8:30 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.
