Henry Jackson Bryant

Henry Jackson Bryant, 87 of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 in his home.  Mr. Bryant was born on June 25, 1937 in Selma, NC, the son of the late Garnett Thrift Bryant and Arthur William Bryant.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur "Billy" Bryant, Jr., Frances B. Ward, Marguerite B. Wheeler, Lillian B. Pearson, and Jesse O. Bryant.  He was a member of Smith Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, Home Life Care, and the Oncology Team at UNC Chapel Hill for the wonderful care they all gave to Henry.

Surviving include his two sons Ricky W. Bryant of Norfolk, VA and Mark A. Bryant (Julie) of Roanoke Rapids, their mother Louise Dickens, his special friend MaryEllen Kelley and her family, his sister Barbara B. Payne, of Urbanna, VA, his brothers Wesley Bryant of Greenville, SC and Richard Bryant (Sharon) of Newport News, VA, his uncle Francis Thrift of Baltimore, MD, his grandchildren Eric Bryant, Alan Michael Bryant (Tiffany), Shannon Marie Lyons (Alan), and Shelly Grissom (John), and his great grandchildren Kaylynn Robertson, Brayden Johnson, Iris Lyons, Athena Gerity, Jason Ryder Bryant, and Amber Bryant.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 in Smith Methodist Church with Reverends Randy Martin and Stan Lewis officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM in the fellowship hall.  Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.  Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service is serving the Bryant family.
