On Monday, September 14, 2009, Helen Bell Turner Acree of 701 Georgia Avenue, went home to be with her Lord. She was born December 5, 1933 in
Halifax County, Her husband, Fred Acree, her parents, Sam and Clara Turner, and two brothers, Randall Junior Turner and Louis Turner, all preceded her in death.
Helen loved her children unconditionally, and especially loved and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. She retired from Bibb, formerly J. P. Stevens, and was a member of Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved her church family dearly and was touched by their outpouring of love during her battle with cancer over the past ten months.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Donald Acree, Sr. and his wife, Patsy; Linda Acree Raney, Cindy Acree Draper, and her husband, Rudy, and Angie Acree Fullwood and her husband, Chris; her grandchildren, Dee Newton, Donald Acree, Jr., Johnathan Acree and his wife, Heather, Amanda, Rudy, Ellen, and Gray Draper, and Bryce Fullwood; her great grandchildren, Alex Baum, Reagan Edwards, Chaseten Martin, and Caiden Baird; two nieces, Debbie Turner Daniel and Glenda Turner Browder, and one nephew, Randy Turner, and her friends at Liberty Commons of Weldon.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at 7:00 P. M. at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Pastor Norwood Starling officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Cindy, at 1317 East 9th Street.
Graveside services will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery at 11:00 on Thursday, September 17, 2009. Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service will be handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 112 Long Circle, Roanoke Rapids, N. C. 27870.
