Hazel Hux Dickens was born in Halifax County on May 1, 1930 to the late Sterling A. Hux and Clara Warren Hux.
She was the wife of the late William E. Dickens for 52 years. She was a member of Smith United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Sterling A. Hux, Jr., Johnnie B. Hux, Cecil L. Hux and Herman Hux; two sisters: Roberta Louise Hux and Betty Lou Hux Moseley; son-in-law John Maitland.
She is survived by three children: Vickie D. Reese and husband Norman of Pittsboro, NC, Edward L. Dickens and wife Lisa of Roanoke Rapids and Wanda D. Maitland of Roanoke Rapids. There are nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She is also survived by one brother: Albert A. Hux and his wife Mary; one sister: Nellie Mae Bailey ; brother-in-law Randy Moseley all of Roanoke Rapids.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev Tom Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00-8:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231..
