Hazel Marie Carter Spires

Hazel Marie Carter Spires, 78, died Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Hazel was born in Halifax County to the late Thomas Randolph Carter and Harriett Carter. She loved life to the fullest and especially loved her grandbabies. She also loved making flower arrangements and playing bingo. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy Carter and Edward Carter; sister, Shirley Fox.

Surviving is her daughter, Karen S. Roberts and husband, Kelly, of Wake Forest; brother, Bob Carter and wife, Faye; sister, Louise Edwards Conwell and husband, P.J., both of Roanoke Rapids. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Angel Tucker and partner, Felicia, Kelsey Roberts and Karson Roberts.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Tuesday, October 18, 2016, from 6-8 pm. Nelson High will conduct a graveside service Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11:00 am in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
