Harry Edward King, 86, of White Plains, VA, peacefully answered Gods call to eternal rest on Saturday, March 1, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. King was born January 7, 1928 in Brunswick County, VA to the late Robert W. and Nettie Ruth Jones King. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Len, Frank, Robert, Jr., Earnest, Gilbert, Herman, and his sister, Mildred.

He was owner and operator of Kings Service Center of White Plains, VA which serves Brunswick County and the surrounding area for 45 years.

Harry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 68 years, Virgie Carroll King; three daughters, Jean Singletary of Fort Washington, MD, Judy Bell of Louisburg, NC, and Renee Wilson of Littleton, NC. He had six grandchildren, Henry Singletary, Jr., Lavonne Nelson, Tiffany Briscoe, Natasha Belch, Jennifer Shelton, and Daniel Edward Stroud. He had sixteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, NC, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 6:00- 8:00 pm and all other times at the home. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Rev. John Alford officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC.
