Grady McNeil Shell, 77, passed away peacefully in her home, Monday, February 18, 2013, while surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Shell was born in Halifax County June 8, 1935 to the late Carlton Lee McNeil and Ruby Wellons McNeil. After receiving her nursing degree, she spent her fifty plus years working in Halifax County as a registered nurse. Part of career was spent as the head operating room nurse at Halifax Regional Medical Center. She was also a loyal and faithful member at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church here in Roanoke Rapids. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shell is preceded in death by her brother, Bobby McNeil.
Surviving is her husband, Edward Randolph Shell, of the home; her son, Randy Shell of Roanoke Rapids; three brothers, Jack McNeil, Carlton McNeil, and Otis McNeil, all of Florida and two sisters, Nancy Hewitt of Raleigh, and Betty Stallings of Charlotte. Also surviving is her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Dot Shell and special friend and caretaker, Beverly Norman.
Though it sad that a loving wife, mother, sister and friend has left, the family wishes to invite everyone to come and celebrate her life and honor her memory at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 7-9 pm.
Rev. Margaret Horrell and Rev. Rudolph Britt will conduct services in the chapel at Hockaday Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Mrs. Shell will be laid to rest immediately following services in Cedarwood Cemetery.
