Grady Harris Kidd

Grady Harris Kidd, 93, of 921 Cleveland Street, Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Kidd served in the U. S. Army in WWII in the European Theatre. He retired from J. P. Stevens after 40 years and worked 13 years with the City of Roanoke Rapids. Mr. Kidd was also an avid gardener. He was born March 11, 1916, to the late John and Mary Kidd, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna J. Kidd, and his son, Ronnie Kidd, and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah McDaniel, of Roanoke Rapids; his brother: Sam Kidd, of Lawrenceville, Virginia; his grandchildren: Mike Kidd (Hope), Nicole Turner, Blake Danielle Kidd, Alan Kidd; his great-grandchildren: Brianna L. Turner, Matthew A. Turner, Samantha and Krista Powell; his special son-in-law, Jerry McDaniel and special daughter-in-law: Kim Kidd. Graveside services will be held at Crestview Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 11:00 A. M. withRev. Tony Smithofficiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.
