Glynn Ross Sorie Barbour, 81, of Roanoke Rapids, better known as “Gagie,” passed away on Saturday August 15, 2026.
Mrs. Barbour was born on January 19, 1945, the daughter of the late Haley Ross, Jr. and Louise Moss Ross, and was the widow of the late William Barbour. She was also preceded in death by the father of her girls, Hubert “Lowe” Sorie, as well as her siblings: Pat, Nettie, Butch, and Ella.
She is survived by her sister Lalla. She leaves behind daughters: Kaye Inscoe (David), Dana Barnes (Robert), and Tina Childress (Billy); her grandchildren: Robbie (Amanda), Lauren (Jordan), Matthew (Kali), Alex (Kristen), Jacob, Cailey, Kasey, Grant (Samantha), and Jordan; and her great-grandchildren: Hudson, Hatcher, Reed, Clay, and Tate. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers that have provided assistance, companionship, and kindness over the years. She leaves behind beloved canine companions Daisy and Lil’ Bit and her cat, Callie, who will miss their constant companion.
Mrs. Barbour worked for Winn Dixie, holding multiple leadership roles during her 38 years. Gagie loved cooking, shopping, knitting, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Darlington Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel with Rev. Kevin Barbour officiating, and assisted by her brother-in-law, Billy Sorie. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon. The family will also receive visitors at various times at the home of Robert and Dana Barnes.
