Glossie Mae Grizzard, 87, of Gaston died Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

Mae was born January 11, 1934, in Ebony, VA, daughter to the late Charlie Bee and Ellen Clary King. She loved making fruit cakes and cooking. Along with her cooking, she loved working in her flower beds and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Edward Grizzard; sisters, Faye Edenbeck and Mabel Ezell; stepson, Mike Grizzard, and step- granddaughter, Wendy Pernell.

Surviving is her daughter, Tonya Pulley and husband, Keith; sons, Jimmie Wayne King and wife, Diane, Jerry King and wife, Sally; stepsons, Larry and Edward Grizzard, and stepdaughter, Myrtle Hall, four grandchildren, Christian and Austin Pulley, April Berwick and husband, Randy, and Jamie King; 3 great grandchildren, Kaylee, Blaire, and Mae Jacklyn Berwick; 6 sisters, Frances Conner of Gasburg, VA, Emma Clarke of LaCrosse, VA, Linda Overton, Stella Bohannon and Susan Vaughan, all White Plains, VA. Also surviving are three brothers, Charles King of Emporia, VA, Charlie Bee King, Jr. of White Plains, VA, and Keith King of Ebony, VA.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Services Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Hockaday Wednesday, December 1, 2021, beginning at 1:00 pm with interment to immediately follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
