Gladys Glasgow Payne

Gladys Glasgow Payne, 69, died Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs. Payne was born in Halifax County, NC, daughter to the late Louis Edward and Annie Harris Glasgow. She loved her family and animals (who were like family), country music and camping. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Glasgow and great grandchild, Brett Peterson.

Surviving are her children, Christopher DeBerry and wife, Kathy and Kevin DeBerry and wife, Tammy; stepchildren, Timmy Payne, Shelby Payne and Chris Payne; grandchildren, Amber Ruble, Jacob DeBerry, Gannon DeBerry, Dillion Ruble and fiancé, Alyssa Gibson; great grandchildren, Chloe Ruble and Carly Carter; nieces, Heather Hagaman and husband Jimmy, Brandi Doisey, Jenny & Jackie Payne; nephew, Willis Doisey; and sister, Gwen Glasgow. Also surviving is her faithful K-9 companion, Annabelle.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Thursday, February 10, 2022 beginning at 12:00 pm, one hour prior to the chapel service, and Pastor Eddie Echerd will conduct a funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm, following the visitation. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
