Gilbert Wilson Moore, 72, died at his residence Sunday, August 22 2021.

Gilbert was born in Halifax, County, NC, January 05, 1949, son to the late Melvin Gilbert and Gracie Harlow Mclaughlin. He was also a long-time employee with the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District, being a maintenance worker with the wastewater department. In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by the love of his life, Brenda Faye Williams; sister, Hazel Faye Conway and brother, James Russell Moore, Sr.

Surviving is his son, Toby Williams of Greenville, NC; daughters, Laura Joyner of the home, Denise Evans of Victoria, VA, and Shannon Moore of Roanoke Rapids, NC; brother, Melvin Douglas Moore and wife, Diann, of Roanoke Rapids; sisters Connie Brooks of Gaston and Dale Benton of Swansboro, NC. Also surviving are his grandchild Logan, and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 5-7 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Services and a graveside service will be held Friday, August 27, 2021, in the Rook-Moore Family Cemetery at 11:00 am, located off the Cal Floyd Rd.
