Gilbert Cephus Allen

Mr. Gilbert Cephus Allen, 90, died Thursday morning, July 22, 2021 in his Roanoke Rapids home.

Gilbert was born August 28, 1930 in Halifax County, the son of Gilbert Lamar and Ida Sue White Allen.  He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and his wife of 59 years, Wilma Allen.

Gilbert worked at JP Stevens and Clarks Dept. Store.  He loved cutting grass, picking up junk and aluminum cans, and being around his cats. Gilbert served his country in the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by his daughters, Yvonne Christenbury, Linda Lee, Helen Marie Allen, Pamela Robbins and Kimberly Allen; his sons, Jeffery Allen and Gregory Allen; a sister, Mildred Pittard of Murfreesboro, TN; brothers, Troy Allen of Rocky Mount and Graham Allen of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kenneth Robbins, Michael Allen and John Snow; and great-grandchildren, Jorden Barnes, Ryilon Barnes, Kenleigh Robbins and MaKenna Robbins.

The family would like to thank Community Home Health and Hospice for their services and care; and also to the aide, Pam.  He looked forward to her visiting as they always had something to talk about.

In accordance with Gilbert's wishes, he will be cremated and no service will be held.
