Gene Moore

Harry Eugene “Gene” Moore, 77 of Roanoke Rapids, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday November 10, 2018.

Gene was born in Halifax County December 30, 1940 to the late John L. Moore Sr. and Ruth Moore.  He attended William R. Davie and retired from Westpoint Stevens, where he worked as a supervisor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and six sisters.  He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Myrle Mooney Moore; a brother Leonard Moore and wife Mary; many nieces and nephews; and their extended family, Lin and Sandy Wall and their son and daughter-in-law, Brooks and Kayla; Neal and Barbara Moore and their children Atalee and Emily; and Jeff and Rhonda Riggan and their children Matt, Luke, and Verdie.

A memorial service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at 2pm Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Hockaday Funeral Home, Rev. Dathan Hall officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at the home.
