Fred Earnest Blanton

Fred Earnest Blanton, 93, died at his home Sunday, December 13, 2020.

Fred was born, September 06, 1927, in Halifax County, NC, son to the late E.B. and Mamie Woodard Blanton. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. Fred loved fishing in Bass Tournaments, as well as, working outdoors in his gardens. When not enjoying the outdoors, you could find him watching old Westerns or reading a good book. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucy Blanton and his second wife, Frances Jernigan Blanton.

Surviving are his daughter, Christy Blanton and fiancé, Brian Finch of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Trey Bailey and wife, Megan and Bryson Finch; his great grandchild, Carmen Bailey and step-son, Tim Jernigan and family of Windsor, NC. Also surviving is his caretaker, Yvonne Cook.

Rev. Tony Smith will conduct a graveside service Thursday, December 17, 2020, in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids at 11:00 am. Due to Covid restrictions, social distancing and face coverings will be recognized.
