LOVING MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER
Frances Moss Turner, 89, died December 8, 2012, at Liberty Commons in Weldon.
She was born December 13, 1922, to the late Joshua Thomas and Anne Steinback Moss in Halifax County, N.C. She grew up in Weldon and graduated from Weldon High School.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Turner, and her brothers and sisters: Clifton Elmo Moss, Howell Brooks Moss, Evelyn Moss Brown, Helen Moss Sledge, Josie Asynith Moss, and Julian Thomas Moss.
Mrs. Turner was a member of the Weldon United Methodist Church for over fifty years. A career beautician, she was the retired owner of the Beauty Hut in Weldon. She was a hard worker and cared deeply for her family. Among her other loves were music and writing poetry. She had a great sense of humor and used it to bring joy to everyone she met.
She is survived by her sons: Dr. Roy Steven Turner and wife, Glenda, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada and Donald M. Turner and wife, Pam, of Weldon; her grandchildren: Laura Mary Frances Turner of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Leanna Turner Hine and husband, Jon, of Raleigh, N.C. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service at 2:00 PM and will be conducted by Bane Angles, Minister, and Chris Wicker, Associate Minister. Burial will follow in Cedarwood in Weldon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, from 7:00-8:30 PM.
