Floyd Warren Horne

Floyd Warren Horne, 88, died Sunday, June 1st, 2014 at his home. Mr. Horne was born February 20, 1926 in Chesterfield County, S.C. to the late Burt Horne and Cora Cassidy Horne.

Mr. Horne was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He loved his animals, gardening, and sports, especially Atlanta Braves Baseball. Mr. Horne never met a stranger. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Horne; a brother, Doc Horne, and a sister Bobbie Lee McCaston. Mr. Horne is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thelma ONeal Horne of the home; three daughters, Carol Horne Ezell; Donna Cribb and husband Troy, all of Roanoke Rapids; and Shirley Chavis Straight and husband Bill of Berlin Heights, Ohio. Nine grandchildren, Troy Strickland and wife Kristen; Chris Strickland; Billy Strickland and fianc Barbie; Kari Ezell; Benjamin Ezell; Emery Cribb; Warren Cribb; Michael Straight; and Andrew Straight and wife Carol. Also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Landen, Tylen, Kaleb, and Nathan; and three sisters, Ruby Benoist and husband Kenneth of Rockingham, NC; Doris White of Hamlett, NC; and Peggy Hughes of Concord, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 4th, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Crestview Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Jordan Willard and Mr. Kenneth Brantley, officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
