Fleetwood “Billy” Wilson Culpeper Jr, 89 of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday December 16, 2025. Fleetwood was born on August 17, 1936, in Chesapeake Virginia. He was preceded in death by parents Fleetwood and Vivian Culpeper and sister Barbara Curles.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Culpeper, sons Gene Culpeper (Nola), Henry Culpeper (Dawn), James Culpeper, daughter Patricia Carver (Eugene), stepson Danny Shutt (Cindy), stepdaughter Elaine Furlong (Jim), grandchildren Heather, Joshua, Jessica, George, Becky, Dani, Colton, Kara, Dusty, Dylan, 12 great grandchildren, brothers Forest Culpeper (Jane), Winfred Culpeper(Karen) and sister Gloria Ried (LC).
Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Baptist Church where he served as the Chairman of Deacons and former member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, served as the local President of the Gideons, he was a farmer by trade who loved his John Deere tractors, hunting and fishing.
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday December 23, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Good Samaritan Baptist Church 142 Zoo Road South Roanoke Rapids, funeral service will be at 11:00am with the Dr. Dennis W. Gregory Sr. presiding. Interment will follow the service in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens 524 Cedar Road Chesapeake Virginia 23322 at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Fleetwood’s honor to The Gideons International PO Box 140800 Nashville TN 37214-0800.
