Evelyn Hobbs King

Evelyn Hobbs King, 86, of 102 Beechwood Drive died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. King was born October 31, 1923 in Greensville County, Virginia to the late Wavley Peebles Hobbs, Sr. and Vadie Frances Doyle Hobbs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers: Alfred Hobbs, Henry Hobbs and Wavley Hobbs, Jr.

Mrs. King was a member of First Christian Church. She retired from JP Stevens as a cloth inspector.

Mrs. King is survived by her husband of 58 years: Harry King of the home; sister: Dora Doyle of Emporia, Va; half-sister: Margaret Ann Wright of Emporia, VA; sister-in-law: Alice Bobbitt of Roanoke Rapids; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service at 1:00 p.m. with Dave Chapman, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
