Evelyn Lee Griffin Shearin

Evelyn Lee Griffin Shearin, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, July 2, 2010, at her home.

She was a longtime member of Lakeview Park Baptist Church, and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved her family, flowers, gardening and music. Born September 6, 1920, to the late Dark Benjamin Griffin and Josephine Swanson Griffin, she was also predeceased by her husband, James Horace Shearin, her daughter, Frances Ann Weaver, and three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her children: Larry Shearin of White Sulphur Springs, Montana; Judy Ellis of Yorktown, Virginia; Bobby Shearin and wife, Betty, of Elizabeth City, N. C., and Donald Shearin and his wife, Joyce, of Cumberland City, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren including her beloved granddaughter: Birdie Lee Outland, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 5, 2010, at 11 A.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service conducted by Pastor Michael Jones. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank her many friends and visitors for their faithfulness during her illness.
