Ernestine Jordan Jenkins, 93, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, September 25, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived.

Mrs. Jenkins was born on February 8, 1933, in Halifax County, the daughter of the late Lucy Jones Jordan and Larry Jordan. She was the beloved wife of the late Troy “Buddy” Lee Jenkins, with whom she shared many treasured years.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Jenkins; her daughter, Vickie Todd; her sisters, Dorothy Allen and Estelle White; and her brothers, Robert Jordan and Harvey Jordan.

Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found great joy in working with her flowers, reading a good book, and riding horses. These were among the many things that brought her happiness through the years and reflected the gentle, spirited nature of the life she lived.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Debbie Wilson and her husband, Robert; her son, Troy Jenkins and his wife, LaDonna; her daughter-in-law, Rita Tart and her husband, Andy; her sister, Mrytle Carawan; her brother, Larry Jordan and his wife, Pat; her grandchildren, Lisa Leviner, Sheri Jordan, Bob Wilson, Scott Wilson, Robbie Jenkins, Marty Rowell, Tiffany Crowe, Courtney Gaskill, Lauren Harris, Jennifer Wrenn, and James Tart; as well as 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jenkins will be remembered with love by the many family members and friends whose lives she touched throughout her 93 years. Her memory will continue to live on through the generations of family she leaves behind.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, with Reverend Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
