Ernest Jimmie Coggins

Ernest Jimmie Coggins, 92, of Roanoke Rapids passed away March 25, 2025, at ECU North Hospital.  Mr. Coggins was born on June 10, 1932, to the late Jimmie Mahlon Coggins and Stella Casper Coggins.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Council Coggins; his sisters Catherine “Sis” Coggins and Frances Coggins Leake.

Mr. Coggins was a hard-working man and enjoyed working on the family farm when he was younger.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He also worked at Western Auto in Weldon and Halifax Farmers Supply.

He is survived by his sisters Sylvia Floros, Grace Ormond, and Marjorie Kleis (Eugene); his nephews Clifton Wayne Leake, Dwight Payne Leake, Gene Kleis, and Benjamin Ormond; and his niece Linda Patrick.

There will be a visitation Friday, March 28, 2025, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service at 10:00AM – 10:45AM just before the graveside service which will be held at 11:00AM at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with the Pastor Jason Yeatts officiating.  Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com .
