Erline Morgan Floyd, of 409 Thomas Street, Roanoke Rapids, died Friday, August 17, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Reuben and Ola Morgan and was preceded in death by her husband, R. T. Floyd.

Erline is survived by her sister, Odell Ellington; her children, Roland (Chuck) Floyd and his wife, Nancy, of Roanoke Rapids; Cynthia Robinson and her husband, Roy, of Stedman; four wonderful grandchildren, Tom Floyd of Clayton, N. C., John Floyd of Morehead City, Morgan Robinson of Stedman, and Chris Robinson of Roseboro; six great-grandchildren: two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Ann Johnson, Linda Tipton, and Mary Dunlow; and three brothers-in-law: Wilbur Floyd, Richard Floyd, Payne Floyd; lots of nieces and nephews; and a special caretaker Lloyd (Bud) Jackson.

She was a devoted and much loved wife and mother. She was a long time employee of Griffin Drug Company in Roanoke Rapids. Erline was always an outgoing, energetic, fun-loving and sociable individual and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Erline was a charter member of South Rosemary United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. on Sunday, August 19, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Home in Roanoke Rapids and at other times at 409 Thomas Street, Roanoke Rapids.

A celebration of a memorable life will be held at South Rosemary United Methodist Church on her 88th birthday, Monday, August 20, at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Sue Owens and Dr. Phillip Spears officiating. She will be laid to rest in Cedarwood Cemetery.
