Elton Martin Wynn, Sr. formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC, resident of Lynchburg passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Avante at Lynchburg.

Elton was born October 3, 1938 in Halifax County to the late Clarence Wynn and Secretha Smiley Wynn.He was also preceded in death by his brother: Thurman Wynn; his sisters: Loretta Wynn and Janet Wynn.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. He loved his church and riding his motorcycle.

Elton is survived by his wife: Mary J. Wynn of Lynchburg; his children: Elton M. Wynn, Jr. of Greenville, NC, Pete Wynn and wife Billie, Addie Massey and husband Charles both of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Shirley Whitehead and husband Billy of Hopewell, VA and Becky Lee and husband Ron of Wade, NC;two special children that he raised: Elizabeth Stewart and Kathy Esquivel; his sisters: JoEllen Caulder of Wilmington, NC and Brenda Carroll of Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Jeremy Kobernat officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 8:30 P.M. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, Addie, 215 E 13th Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC..
