Elton Vaughan Gillikin Jr

Elton Vaughan Gillikin, Jr., 55 of Raleigh Street died Saturday, November 23, 2013 at VCU Health System in Richmond, VA.

Mr. Gillikin was born November 3, 1958 in Virginia Beach, VA to the late Elton Vaughan Gillikin, Sr. and Dorothy Tew Gillikin.

Mr. Gillikin attended First Christian Church. He loved cooking and telling tall tales, he was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, very much a family man and was always trying to help others.

He is survived by his wife: Laura Armstrong Gillikin; his children: Pamela Gillikin Wells and her husband Michael, Shelley Renee Gillikin and her fianc Anthony Sean Waters, Shawn Ryan Gillikin and his fianc Brittany L. Schornik, Jacob Vaughan Gillikin and Holly Michele Gillikin all of Roanoke Rapids; his sister: Jan G. Draper and her husband Ritchie of Roanoke Rapids; his brother: Timothy Gillikin and his wife Cindy ofFernandina Beach, FL; his grandchildren: Anthony Blake Waters, Landen Wells, Caleb Waters, Emily Grace Wells and Carson Tyler Waters all of Roanoke Rapids; his nieces: Judith McKnight and her husband Matthew, Kelsey Draper and Kimberly Liles.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Bane Angles, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the funeral home and other times at the home..
