Elizabeth Gertrude Hawkins Lucas

Elizabeth Gertrude Hawkins Lucas, 97, died Wednesday, February 2,, 2011, at her home.

Mrs. Lucas was born December 5, 1913, to the late C. F. Hawkins and Ella Frances King Hawkins. She was also predeceased by her husband, John B. Lucas; her brother, James Alva Hawkins; and an aunt, Mary Ida Shearin.

She is survived by her sons: John Wilson Lucas and Daniel Matthew Lucas; her daughters: Mary Frances L. King and Martha Sue L. Dills; her sister-in-law: Margaret P. Hawkins; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren; and many devoted family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. conducted by Rev. Sid Collins. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 4, 2011, from 7:30 until 9:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements..
