Eleanor Lecky Moose passed away Friday, February 8th at Hospice House of Savannah, Georgia.
Eleanor was born on February 14th, 1912 in Richmond, Virginia. She and her late husband moved to Roanoke Rapids in 1954 and were the owners and operators of the Western Auto Store located on Roanoke Avenue for over 25 years. After her husband of 45 years passed away, she began to volunteer on a regular basis at the office of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a long standing member and had been as a faithful servant. She spent countless hours in the church whether helping in the nursery with the youngest parishioners, folding bulletins, handing out newsletters or greeting Sunday church-goers with a smile and kind word. She knew everyones name and could be counted on for any task. She was kind, generous, gentle and faithful and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She is predeceased by her husband, George Francis Moose II. Surviving her are her sons George Francis Moose III of Tampa, Florida and Robert Lecky Moose of Brooksville, Kentucky. She is also survived by her granddaughters Mary Beth Schnell of Tampa, Florida and Meredith Kindred of Gales Ferry, Connecticut along with four great-grandchildren.
Rev. Joe Sandoval will conduct final rites at the First Presbyterian Church on Monday February 11th at 2pm. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Loy Memorial Building following the cemetery burial. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hockaday Funeral Home.
