Edwin Gerald Birdsong, Sr.

Edwin Gerald Birdsong, Sr., 71 of Littleton, NC passed away October 9, 2024.  He was born January, 22,1953 to the late Jake Birdsong and Novella Butler Birdsong.  He was also preceded in death by his brother Jessie Birdsong, his sisters Shirley Birdsong and Mary Birdsong, and a grandson Corey Johnson.

Edwin proudly served his country in the U. S. Army in the 82nd Airborne and in the National Guard in which he retired.  He also owned and operated Birdsong Roofing.  Edwin loved to sing, especially karaoke.  He also enjoyed dancing and wasn’t shy about asking pretty ladies to dance with him.  He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter.  He was a fantastic artist, drawing and painting what would come to his imagination. Edwin enjoyed woodworking and building projects such as dollhouse and birdhouses.  He never met a stranger; he just loved people.  He especially loved his family.  He will be greatly missed.

Edwin is survived by his wife Corene Birdsong, his sons Edwin “Eddie” Birdsong, Jr. (Cindy) of Roanoke Rapids and Lannie Birdsong; his daughters Kimberly Jenkins (Daniel) and Erica Birdsong, his grandchildren Brittney Odom (William), Autumn Jolly, Dustin Jenkins, Kelsey Jenkins, and Emily Jenkins.  Along with many great grandchildren, he was survived by many nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service held Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 7:00PM at Maranatha Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Little officiating.  Friends may sign the online register by visiting hockadayfs.com.
