Edwin Clifford (Bill) Tritt was born October 29, 1922, and readily answered Gods call into eternal rest on June 3, 2012.
Bill was a carpenter and painter for most of his adult life, and his workmanship was thorough and precise. He taught both his children how to use hand tools and the correct way to sand, prime and paint. Bill was fond of outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing with his brothers, son, son-in-law and grandsons.
He was a long-time, devoted member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Roanoke Rapids where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, and enjoyed singing in the choir. Family and friends will remember Bill for his unyielding faith, his sense of humor, his hearty laughter, and for always wanting to help others.
Bill was predeceased by his father, Urise R. Tritt; his mother, Kate Bain Tritt; his sister, Mildred T. Whitley; and by his brothers, Robert Tritt and Douglas Tritt. He also was predeceased by his first wife and the mother of his children, Margaret Padgett Tritt.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Cobb Dickens Tritt, of Roanoke Rapids; his son, Cliff Tritt, of Blounts Creek, NC; his daughter, Dianne Hilliard, of Roanoke Rapids; his stepson, Tony Dickens, of Roanoke Rapids; his sister, Helen Lassiter, and his brothers Gene, Mack and Edsel, all of Roanoke Rapids; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive Thursday, June 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Hockaday Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. D. A. Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
